Learning Objectives Per Course Module
Module 1: Wave Soldering
• Describe the main parts and functions of a wave soldering machine
• List the steps in the wave soldering process
• Use best practices to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot wave soldering equipment and process
• Learn how to configure and optimize process parameters to achieve strong and consistent solder connections
• Select soldering process parameters to meet customer specifications
• Implement quality control measures to maintain solder purity, reduce oxidation, and
ensure strong mechanical and electrical connections
Module 2: Selective Soldering
• Describe the main parts and functions of a selective soldering machine
• List the steps in the selective soldering process
• Use best practices to set up, monitor, and maintain selective soldering machines and processes
• Configure and optimize process parameters to achieve strong and consistent solder connections
• Implement quality control measures to maintain solder purity, reduce oxidation, and ensure strong mechanical and electrical connections
Final Exam
Participants must complete the Final Exam with a passing score of 80% to access and download their Manufacturing Engineer: Wave and Selective Solder Certificate of Completion. Students may attempt the exam up to three (3) times. Please note that participants must wait 24 hours after completing their second attempt to commence their third and final attempt.
This course is ideal for manufacturing, process, and quality engineers—alongside line supervisors and maintenance leads—who are responsible for wave or selective soldering operations. If you configure equipment, tune process parameters, troubleshoot defects, or oversee production efficiency, you’ll gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to drive stable, high-quality soldering performance.
